Diet Evaluation Vitamins and Minerals

For this assignment you continue with evaluating the results of your Diet Evaluation Report that you submitted earlier in the semester. It is now time to examine your micronutrients. You will be evaluating and discussing the results of your Vitamin and Mineral intake by thoroughly answering the questions below. Please use this form to address the following questions and please do not make any formatting changes to this form, but feel free to remove extra lines.

Review your Report by looking at your Bar Graph Report on vitamins and minerals. Complete the table below. No percentage or amounts are needed. If your Vitamin or Mineral was above 50% and below 100% you need to do nothing. (The table will expand as you type).

Vitamins and Minerals that
Achieved 100% or Exceeded

Vitamins and Minerals that
Achieved 50% or Less

Looking at your results (as a whole, not individual vitamins or minerals) answer the following three questions. Your answer should be 8 to 12 sentences, two to three well developed paragraphs, at least one paragraph for each bullet point. Please do not discuss the individual roles and functions of each vitamin or mineral. No need to include any changes you want to make, but it is great that you want to make improvements.

Describe how you feel your eating pattern contributes to your vitamin and mineral intake, nutrient density, and to your overall current health.

If you continued this same vitamin and mineral intake discuss the impact on your health and a healthy lifestyle in the future.

Discuss how satisfied you are with your current overall vitamin and mineral intake.

Using the Spread Sheet Report, you will be selecting foods from the designated MyPlate food group to obtain the data. Please be sure that you select foods with data to allow for a thorough comparison.

When completing the table include the name of the food and the amount of the nutrient as it appears in your spread sheet report.

If you did not consume adequate foods with data from the designated food group indicated on the table, then please find a food in another food group on your report with data to compare. You are to evaluate three different foods from three different food groups. Again, you need to select foods with data. If you do not have three foods to evaluate, please see the additional directions after the rubric.

Looking over the data in general, what does this table tell you about vitamins in foods from different groups. You are not discussing individual foods but looking at the table. Discuss what you learned from comparing the different food groups (not individual foods) regarding the total overall vitamin intake. Please note that you are not evaluating individual foods, but the table in general.

Using the Spread Sheet Report, you will be selecting foods from the designated MyPlate food group to obtain the data. The foods that you select to evaluate your mineral intake need to be different from the foods that you used to evaluate your vitamins. Please be sure that you select foods with data to allow for a thorough comparison. When completing the table include the name of the food and the amount of the nutrient as it appears in your spread sheet report.

Additional Directions if you do not have six different foods to evaluate.

Please understand that you must create an additional report that includes all the foods listed in the eating pattern below. To learn about vitamins and minerals in foods you will need to enter all these foods into the Nutrition Calc Plus program, generate a report for one day using the ALL DAILY report. You will then use that report to complete only the vitamin and mineral tables in the assignment. You must then upload this assignment and the new ALL DAILY Report when you submit your work for grading. Not following these directions will result in a very low score. Please ask questions if you do not understand.
