Assignment 1: Assess Emotional Intelligence
Instructions
Competent leadership drives organizational success. Research shows that self-awareness, a central aspect of Emotional Intelligence, is more crucial for effective leadership than IQ or technical skills (Showry & Manasa, 2014). Self-awareness underpins managerial capability and predicts leadership effectiveness.
Requirements
This assignment consists of three parts:
1. Complete the Personal Assessment of Management Skills (PAMS) tool located below. This tool will help you gauge your level of skill competence as a manager.
2. Complete the Kolbe Assessment located below. This tool will help you measure your way of doing things. The result is called your method of operation. You only need to complete the free assessment.
3. After completing both assessments, reflect on the questions below.

a. Which skills rated the lowest on the assessment?
b. Which skills rated the highest on the assessment?
c. Which areas surprised you most from either assessment?
d. Based on the information you have learned regarding effective leadership skills, to what extent do you feel prepared to become a fair leader?
e. What area do you feel needs improvement?
Prepare a 3–5-minute video 7-10 slides you can have less slides if it meets the 3-5 min time (showing you talking or showing a PowerPoint presentation with you explaining each slide) explaining how you would use the strengths identified in your PAMS and Kolbe Assessment results. Be specific in your discussion. (Please put talking points in the notes sections).
Length: 3–5-minute video of yourself in Kaltura Video or of PowerPoint slides with audio narration.
References: Include a minimum of 2 scholarly resources.
