Project Brief
Project Overview:
The importance of critical thinking will equip you to think deeply about issues that are key to not only your subject matter but to the wider society and beyond. This module will enable and prepare you to make reasoned decisions about your subject discipline based on evidence and research rather than assumption.
Over the next 12 weeks, you will take part in a number of class activities (details to be provided by your tutor). These activities include:
- In-class debates 20%
- Research activities 60%
- In-class presentations 20%
- Essay writing skill development tutorial
- Critical thinking activities
- Activities to learn how to form arguments and analyse information
- Activities to learn how to arrive at valid solutions
Project Description:
Produce a portfolio of the research you carried out for the items in bold above and reflect on the contributions you made. Your portfolio (LO1, LO2, LO3, LO4) should include the following:

5. Self-reflection Essay 25%
Offer a 1000-word reflection (essay format) on the content of the above activities, including a conclusion with focus on the critical thinking skills you used or needed to explore and contribute to each. Use Gibb’s model of self-reflection for this.

Assessment and tutor feedback date |
Student will receive feedback and assessment in accordance with deadlines subject to the registry timetable, from 20 working days after submission. Students who miss the deadline or fail this project may be required to complete a retrieval project which demonstrates that the learning outcomes have been achieved. Students should be aware that retrieval submissions are capped at a bare pass grade, unless the extenuating circumstances panel uphold an evidenced application. The deadline for retrieval submissions will be determined at an Assessment Board. |
