Summative Assessment: Agency Budget Proposal A chief financial officer (CFO) is responsible for overall financial management in justice or security. The CFO oversees disbursements, accountability processes, and operational planning, budgeting, and analysis. STEP 1: Imagine you are the CFO for criminal justice or a private security agency in your home state. You are tasked with developing and presenting an operating budget proposal to your agency director. Your starting point for the operating budget is the current year. You will then build an operating budget for the next year. STEP 2: Select a state, local criminal justice, or security agency from your home state. STEP 3: Research the most recent budget for that agency. Use the resource at the end of the assignment as an example of an operating budget and how to search for one online. STEP 4 Write a 525- to 700-word budget proposal that contains operating expenses and revenue. Include the following in your proposal: Your total budget, including operating expenses and revenue. This can increase or decrease by 5 percent. The total for your operating budget and special line items. If you include the special line items, they must equal the total of all your revenue sources, which is called a balanced budget. There should be no deficit or surplus budgeting. Increase or decrease any expenditure or fund source you like. Any increase or decrease should be related to the issues you list in your summary. Base your budget adjustments and issues on actual concerns your home state or local jurisdiction is experiencing. STEP 5: Insert a table in the budget recommendation that includes columns for the current year (your starting point) and the next year (your recommendation). The table is not part of the summary word count. STEP 6: Explain the issues that justify increases or decreases in the total budget. STEP 7: Cite at least 2 outside references to support your assignment. Step 8: Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines to include, at a minimum, the APA cover page, Introduction, level headers/titles for each required assignment discussion point, Conclusion, and Reference page. Step 9: Run the paper through Safe Assign and ensure that Similarity Index is under 22%; double-check that all grammar and spelling are correct. STEP 10: Submit your assignment.

Instructions
For this assignment, please write a paragraph of 150-200 words in which you respond to one of the following prompts.
Things to remember:
Process analysis can be directive (how to) or explanatory (how does). A directive process will identify the steps it takes to bake cookies, program a phone, paint a room, or any kind of activity that can be broken down in steps. An explanatory process might explain how a vaccine works, how insects feed, how the heart works, or any other examination of a complex process. It’s finally here: the opportunity to use the second-person point of view “you” without being penalized! Directive process analysis typically uses “you.”
You may review the Rhetorical Strategies unit (Module 2 Learning Materials, Part 3) if needed.
The topic sentence should be the most general sentence. Remember that it serves two purposes: it states the main point of the paragraph, and it limits the paragraph to supporting that main point. Present your topic sentence first. It should be the first sentence that appears in your paragraph.
Prompts:
- Share an old family recipe for one of your favorite foods.
- Describe the steps you take to clean your room.
- Write about the steps you take when you begin a new assignment.
How to Submit:
- Create your paragraph using Microsoft Word.
- Use MLA format. (see module1)
- Submit here in Canvas. Refer to this tutorial if needed.
- Writing in this course may be checked for plagiarism using Turnitin. You submit Turnitin assignments directly in Canvas by following the prompts for submission. Your writing will automatically be checked. (You do not create an account.) Turnitin measures assignment originality and indicates what percent of your assignment matches others’ writings. Please review the Using Turnitin and Understanding the Originality Report.

IHP 330 Final Project Guidelines and Rubric Overview Epidemiology is the science
IHP 330 Final Project Guidelines and Rubric Overview Epidemiology is the science public health practitioners use to study the patterns, causes, and effects of health conditions in defined populations. Public health practitioners rely on epidemiology to understand the risks and protective factors associated with health conditions, and to identify health disparities and specific populations at risk for disease. Studies in epidemiology inform the development of public health policy and targeted interventions to prevent disease and reduce health disparities. For your final project, you will complete an epidemiological research study report based on the provided research study found in the Module Seven Reading and Resources page. Epidemiologists in the field often must develop recommendations to address specific health issues, and part of that process is analyzing what other communities and epidemiologists have already done to address the issues. In your epidemiological research study report, you will analyze a health issue, the population impacted, and the prevention strategies used. You will then develop a research question and determine an appropriate research design to further investigate the issue. The final project is divided into two milestones, which will be submitted at various points throughout the course to scaffold learning and ensure quality final submissions. These milestones will be submitted in Modules Three and Five. The final product will be submitted in Module Seven. In this assignment, you will demonstrate your mastery of the following course outcomes: Draw connections between health disparities within specific populations and social and behavioral determinants Determine key epidemiological principles of disease by analyzing health research studies Determine patterns and trends of disease causation in specific populations by analyzing health data Differentiate between primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention strategies for how they address key factors impacting health issues of specific populations Select epidemiological research designs to investigate disease and improve the quality of health for specific populations Prompt For your final project, you will develop an epidemiological research study report on the study “A Novel Coronavirus Outbreak: A Teaching Case-Study,” provided in the Module Seven Reading and Resources page, which investigates a public health issue impacting specific populations worldwide. In your project, you will analyze the population impacted by the public health issue to accomplish the following: Make connections between social and behavioral determinants and disparities. Analyze the health issue to determine key epidemiologic principles and identify patterns and trends. Examine the levels of prevention used in the research study. For the conclusion to your research study report, you will develop a research question to further investigate the public health issue and population, and to determine an appropriate research design for investigating the research question. Specifically, you must address the critical elements listed below. Most of the critical elements align with a particular course outcome. Population: In this report section, you will summarize key elements of the research study and analyze the population impacted by the health issue. Summarize the people, places, and times represented in the research study to provide context for your report. Describe three social and behavioral determinants strongly associated with the public health issue in the research study. Be sure to cite specific examples from the research study to support your description. Describe three known disparities associated with the health of the specific population. Be sure to cite specific examples from the research study to support your description. Explain how the identified social and behavioral determinants relate to the disparities you identified and explain your reasoning. Health Issue: In this section of your final project, you will analyze the health issue that is the focus of the research study. You will draw conclusions about the health issue by reviewing the research study and conducting outside research on the topic. Describe the risk factors associated with the public health issue. Support your description with evidence from the research study and your independent research. Describe the mode of transmission of the public health issue. Support your description with evidence from the research study and one example from your independent research. Determine the incidence and prevalence of the health issue using the data from Table 1 of the research study to perform the appropriate calculations. Tip: To calculate incidence, use the figures in Table 1, pp. 12–13, and assume that the global population during the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic was 7.821 billion or 7,821,000,000. Determine the mortality rate of the health issue using the data from the research study to perform the appropriate calculations. Use the figures in Table 2 on p. xiv, and assume the total number of confirmed cases from Table 1. Interpret the odds ratio to determine the strength of association between the potential sources of exposure and the disease using the odds ratio given in Table 2. Using your research and analysis, draw connections between the population and public health issue. Consider where you identified common elements, what you learned about the public health issue by studying the population, and what you learned about the population by studying the public health issue. In addition, consider the study’s suggestion of the most likely primary source of the outbreak. Levels of Prevention: In this section, you will describe the prevention strategies the epidemiologists used in the research study. You will identify a strategy for each level of prevention and then differentiate between the strategies. Describe a primary prevention strategy represented in the research study and explain how it addresses key factors impacting the health issue of the specific population. Provide one example of a primary prevention strategy from the case study or your independent research. Describe a secondary prevention strategy represented in the research study and explain how it addresses key factors impacting the health issue of the specific population. Provide one example of a secondary prevention strategy from the case study or your independent research. Describe a tertiary prevention strategy represented in the research study and explain how it addresses key factors impacting the health issue of the specific population. Provide one example of a tertiary prevention strategy from the case study or your independent research. Explain how the primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention strategies differ in how they address the key factors impacting the health issue in the research study. Conclusion: Now that you have analyzed the research study, you will develop a research question to further investigate the specific health issue and population, select an appropriate research design, and explain the importance of the research to the field of public health. Using your analysis of the research study, develop a research question to further investigate the specific public health issue and impacted population. Determine whether an observational or experimental research design would be more appropriate to investigate your research question. Be sure to justify your determination. Explain the importance of further research for improving the quality of health from a global perspective. What is the potential benefit? Milestone Milestone One: Health Issue In Module Three, you will analyze the health issue in focus in the provided research study. You will draw conclusions about the health issue through your review of the research study and by conducting outside research. This milestone will be graded with the Milestone One Rubric. Milestone Two: Population In Module Five, you will summarize the key elements of the research study and analyze the population impacted by the health issue. This milestone will be graded with the Milestone Two Rubric. Final Submission: Epidemiological Research Study Analysis In Module Seven, you will submit your final project. It should be a complete, polished artifact containing all of the critical elements of the final product. It should reflect the incorporation of feedback gained throughout the course. This submission will be graded with the Final Project Rubric. What to Submit Your final project should be 4–6 pages, double spaced, with one-inch margins, 12-point Times New Roman font, and APA formatting and citations. Please note I will attach my milestones that I received low scores on that should be revised

Question 1.)
Denny’s law firm represents several large corporations. As a senior corporate paralegal, Denny always has access to confidential information regarding the price of stock of those corporations, as well as the business deals those corporations are considering. As a result of knowledge gained about an upcoming merger of two of the corporations represented by the firm, Denny buys stock in those corporations. Because of his financial interest in those corporations, Denny spends most of his time doing work for them, while neglecting the others.
Is it ethically permissible for Denny to purchase stock in these corporations?
What actions should the law firm take once they find out Denny purchased stock in two of the corporations?
Should Denny have disclosed his financial interest in the corporations as soon as he purchased the stock?
What other concerns should the firm have about Denny’s actions? Should Denny be fired? What do you think appropriate sanctions should be?
Question 2.)
Perry has been working as a domestic relations paralegal for three years for the same firm. He interviews clients, prepares uncontested dissolution petitions, , arranges for these petitions to be filed, communicates with the clients, and sees their cases through to the end. As most cases only require one appearance by a lawyer, Perry does ninety percent of the work on each case. Perry has a signature stamp with the attorney’s signature on it, as well.
His supervising lawyer reviews his work but, as of the last year, never has had to make any corrections. When Perry’s supervising lawyer takes a four-month medical leave of absence, Perry continues working. He prepares a new lawyer (unfamiliar with domestic relations cases) at the firm to make the required court appearances. The clients and the firm are happy with Perry’s work so far and are unaware that he has been unsupervised during the four months his supervising lawyer was off for medical leave. https://mediaplayer.pearsoncmg.com/assets/OrlikA8
Has Perry committed any ethical violations? If so, how? What about the supervising lawyer?
What would you do differently if you were Perry?
How should the law firm have handled Perry’s situation differently?
Has the law firm committed any ethical violations?

You are working as a paralegal for the law firm that represents one of the plaintiffs in the Arkansas Bus Collision Case. A paralegal signs a pleading for the attorney so that the pleading can be filed before the statute of limitation expires. Discuss the following questions.
May a paralegal ever sign a pleading for an attorney?
What procedures should the paralegal follow before taking any documents to the courthouse for filing?
What are your local court rules for signing pleadings?
What special rules apply to signing pleadings in your state that require electronic filing, or e-filing?
What rules apply to signing pleadings in federal court?
Question 4.)
Electronic discovery, or e-discovery, is now common with discovery. You are working as a paralegal for the law firm that represents one of the families in the Arkansas Bus Collision Case. Your supervising attorney is not happy with the firm’s current e-discovery vendor, and the contract is up for renewal. The supervising attorney has asked you to research different software companies that provide e-discovery solutions and to make a recommendation on which company to use. The firm is a boutique law firm with approximately 30 attorneys with offices in two different states.
Conduct research and compare at least two different software companies that offer e-discovery solutions. What questions would you ask a representative of the software vendor? What features are similar? What features are different? Which company do you recommend? Explain. -

Following the death of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in 1968, Jane Elliot struggled with how to teach the detrimental effects of discrimination to her 3rd-grade class in rural Iowa. In 1970, she embarked on the Blue Eyes/Brown Eyes experiment, in which she hoped to instill in these young students a sense of the power of inequality and prejudice to hurt and divide. Footage of the experiment was first broadcast in 1970 as an ABC documentary, “The Eye of the Storm.” Later, in 1985, it aired as a Frontline episode entitled, “A Class Divided,” which included follow-up interviews with the grown children from Elliot’s 3rd-grade class. After her teaching career, Jane Elliot became an anti-racism activist and a diversity educator. She continues to offer workshops and training sessions based on the early experiment.
