Poem by Safir, “Matisse’s Dance” and painting by Matisse, “Dance”
In Matisse’s dance, I see joy untamed,
Limbs swirling freely, unashamed.
Beneath the azure sky, they prance and sway,
In a timeless rhythm, they gracefully play.
Their bodies a symphony of vibrant hues,
A celebration of life, in every muse.
With every leap, they break all chains,
In Matisse’s dance, freedom reigns.
Their faces alight with radiant glee,
As they move together, wild and free.
In this painted world, worries dissolve,
And in their dance, problems absolve.
Oh, to join them in their joyous flight,
To dance with abandon, under the sun’s light.
In Matisse’s masterpiece, I find my trance,
Lost in the magic of the eternal dance.
