Service learning reflection. You will do a reflective writing piece on your service learning, which is more than just a recounting or a summary. It is an opportunity for you to analyze and evaluate your service-learning experience, connecting it to what you have learned over the semester. In essay format write a 500-600 word reflection addressing the following questions. Please write it in essay or journal format rather than bulleted list.
- What did I do for my service-learning project? Why did I choose this?(will provide details)
- How does the mission/goal/focus of the organization I worked with relate to and help me connect with sustainability, ecological literacy, environmental education, and/or sense of place?
- Educate me on the issue (such as invasive species, animal welfare, poverty). I should be able to understand the science and the environmental, social, or economic impact of this issue.
- What can we do as individuals? What solutions can you offer related to this issue/challenge? Basically, how can you be an agent for change? (refer to this week’s readings)
- What worked about the Loess Plateau restoration project? How did the filmmaker and the locals act as change agents?
- With that in mind, what do you think is the importance of civic engagement (service learning)?
