For this paper, you will be expected to plan
and write an essay of at least 1500 words
and using five cited sources, with a works
cited page using MLA format. You should
submit this paper via the Paper 1 assignment
Turnitin link below. (Please note that
Turnitin does NOT accept .pages or .gdoc
file types. Use .doc or .pdf if possible.) It
will be much easier to provide you feedback
if you double space your paper.
Before you begin, you should view the Essay
Rubric in the Course Resources section. The
goal of this class is to teach college-level
writing conventions, which may require
some students to move beyond previously
taught writing models, like the 5-paragraph
essay format. There are many significant
weaknesses to this model and it is not
adequate at this level. Some aspects of this
formula should be particularly noted. It is
not desirable to have a thesis statement that
presents the ideas of your body paragraphs.
This “A + B + C” thesis always sounds forced
and is overly simplistic. It also contributes
to the next major issue, which is a lack of
real transitions between body paragraphs.
This should be done with clear and
concise writing. Think outside of formulas
and focus on being as effective as you can
be. Also, please maintain academic tone
throughout your paper. There is a video in
the Course Resources section that will help
you, and | highly recommend viewing it.

For this paper, you should describe how you
feel college students should be preparing for
the future economic changes brought by Al.
Use these questions as helpful guides to
your thinking:
- What skills will be necessary in the
future that are not currently being
taught in higher education? - What ethical challenges will there be
for individuals and organizations in
the future economy? How will
students need to be prepared for
them?3. Who needs to be the primary driver
for changing the higher education
system? Keep in mind the Trump
administration’s policy of phasing out
the federal Department of Education.4. In what ways should students be
engaged with current events and
politics in order to ensure their skills
and competencies will have value in
the future economy?| want to make sure that you do not simply
answer these questions in sequential order
like a discussion post, but that you are
integrating these ideas into a paper format.
