A personal leader brand is crucial as it defines how you are perceived by others, influencing your ability to inspire and lead effectively. It reflects your values, strengths, and unique qualities, helping to build trust and credibility. A strong personal brand differentiates you from others, making you memorable and impactful. It also guides your actions and decisions, ensuring consistency and authenticity in your leadership style. By clearly communicating your vision and principles, you attract like-minded individuals and opportunities, fostering a positive and productive environment. Ultimately, a well-crafted personal leader brand enhances your influence and drives success.

For this assignment, students will review the self-assessments completed to date, the self-development plan completed earlier in the course, in-class discussions of leader branding, and your own experiences over the course of the semester to develop a personal leader brand strategy At a minimum, your submission will include the following:

  • Part 1. An introductory section that explains your unique value proposition and what you consider to be the individual strengths that contribute to your brand. Part 1 will be the touchstone to which you will refer frequently, even on a daily basis, to ensure you remain true to your brand.
  • Part 2. In this section, you will draw on your self-assessments to develop a clear picture of your authenticity gap, describing the differences between your persona and reputation, while considering how your personal experiences and expectations shape your brand.
  • Part 3. In this section, you will add definition to your brand by describing actions you can take (identified in your self-assessments) in each of the ten dimensions and five domains (social, emotional, spiritual, mental, and physical) of the leader brand model to strengthen your own leader brand. The actions identified during your self-assessments may not align directly with those dimensions and domains, so you will want to consider other actions apart from those identified earlier.
  • Part 4. A concluding section that describes 3-5 actions you can pursue to promote and reinforce your personal leader brand.

Students will prepare an individual leader brand strategy that pulls together the requirements listed above. Your final written product will be presented in a narrative style—i.e., an introduction, main body of analysis, and conclusion—and must include citations from at least three references (assigned and/or optional reading or self-study). The analysis will be double-spaced, 12-pitch font, and a minimum of 1,000 words in length (this range is optimal as long as submissions are not short of this mark). The style used—APA, Chicago, MLA, etc.—is the student’s choice, but that style must be used consistently and correctly; all research must be properly cited, and papers will include a bibliography with a full listing of references. Submissions will be assessed for narrative style, written clarity and tone, and passive voice (ideally, below 20%), and must be free of spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors.

This assignment will be submitted electronically as a Word file.
